Jet Mud Mixer

Jet mud mixer is a mature equipment of Brightway Solids Control. It’s wedely used in mixing mud. Angle adjustment system of shale shaker

The angle adjustment system of shale shaker can raise or lower the screen basket end during the work. This part includes two vertical column assemblies that are connected on the upper column assembly and are attached to the shaker base.

The movable part of AWD consists of the lower column,limit device that controls vertical movement and hydro jack that drives the upward & downward movement of the shaker screen basket. The fixed ends of jack are connected in upper column assemblies and the movable piston bar is fixed in the lower column assembly. Reciprocately pulling the operating grip of the hand pump or starting the oil return valve of the hand pump can make the screen basket move upward and downward respectively. The screen basket can be adjusted within -1°~+5°. Fix and lock the elevator with clamp pin at the suitable angle, which can reduce the attack on the hydraulic pump when the basket is running at this angle.



The mud treated by other equipment or mud that returns from well will flow into the shale shaker through the mud tank which has a buffer effect on the drilling fluid and can make the mud flow onto the screen equably .This can reduce the mud attack to the screen and increase screen work life and mud treatment efficiency. Meanwhile there is a square cover on the tank top and from here we can test the mud performance.

Vibration Motor

It boasts of the features of stronger vibrating strength, higher reliability and easier maintenance. The exciting force is generated by eccentric rotor and the exciting force of single motor can reach 38kN. Suitable ambient temperature is : -40℃~150℃.

What kind of Shale shaker is the best?

Shale shaker is components of drilling equipment used in many industries, such as coal cleaning, mining, oil and gas drilling.They are considered to be the first phase of a solids control system on a drilling rig, they are used to remove large solids also called cuttings from the drilling fluid, more commonly called “Mud” due to its similar appearance.



Drilling fluids are integral to the drilling process and, among other functions, serve to lubricate and cool the drill bit as well as convey the drilled cuttings away from the bore hole. These fluids are a mixture of various chemicals in a water or oil based solution and can be very expensive to make. For both environmental reasons and to reduce the cost of drilling operations, drilling fluid losses are minimized by stripping them away from the drilled cuttings before the cuttings are disposed of. This is done using a multitude of specialized machines and mud tank.



Shale shakers are the primary solids separation tool on a rig. After returning to the surface of the well the used drilling fluid flows directly to the shale shakers where it begins to be processed. Once processed by the shale shakers the drilling fluid is deposited into the mud tanks where other solid control equipment begin to remove the finer solids from it. The solids removed by the shale shaker are discharged out of the discharge port into a separate holding tank where they await further treatment or disposal.

Ⅲ· The Role of Mud Tank in Solid Control System

As mentioned that one mud agitator is equiped on the top of each compartment, and the mud would be stirred by the agitator impeller which is welded with four 45-degree blads at the bottom end of the impeller. Driving by the agitator, the impeller can stirring the mud sufficiently.  The diameter of the impeller includes many sizes. While the length of the impeller shaft depends on the depth of the mud tank.

On the top of mud tank, there also exists a floating mark, the bottom of which is floated on the surface of the mud in the mud tank. By reading the mark, drilling workers can easily know the depth of the mud down in the tank, and no need to enter into the tank. While for the purpose of mud tank cleaning, and inner pipeline maintaining, there also exists a ladder in each compartment, and also a cover on the top to avoid any falling accident.

Ⅳ· How the Mud Tank Works.


The mud tank bears the whole circulation process of the drilling fluids between the wellhead and mud pump. First it comes directly to the shale shaker. The solids are to be separated by the shaker screen and discharged out of the mud tank through the sand-releasing slot, while the drilling fluid with small particles would enter down to the compartment below the shaker for further separation. If air infusion into the mud, a sand pump would suck up the mud from previous compartment  and pump it into the vacuum degasser to discharge the air in the mud and return the drilling mud into the second compartment. If non air infusion, the vacuum degasser would work as mud agitator.

How to keep a drilling shale shaker work efficiently ? Part 2

3. If fluid flows through a hole or tear, cuttings are not removed. Any screen with a hole or tear should be replaced immediately. With a shaker screen, the hole or tear can be plugged.
4. Shaker screen replacements should be made as quickly as possible. Minimize downtime by planning your work. Locate and arrange tools and screens before starting. If possible, get help. This will decrease the amount of cuttings being kept in the mud because the shaker is not running. If possible, change screens during a connection. In critical situations, drilling may be interrupted and the pumps stopped while the screen is replaced.

5. Dilution fluids ( water or oil ) should not be added in the possum belly or on the shaker screen.
6. Dilution fluids should be added downstream. Dilution-fluids ( even water ) additions should be metered or otherwise measured.
7. Except for cases of lost circulation ( when it is necessary to retain lost circulation material ), the shaker should not be bypassed, not even for a short time.

How to keep oilfield shale shaker work efficiently ?
1. The excess pressure significantly decreases the drilling rate and removes cuttings from beneath the drill bit. Eight general rules to assure shale shakers will work properly and remove drilling cuttings.
2. The shale shaker should be run continuously while circulating. Drilling Cuttings cannot be separated if the shaker bed is not in motion.
Drilling fluid should cover most of the shaker screen. If only one quarter or 1/3 of the shaker screen is covered, the screen is too coarse and should be replaced with a finer screen.
